This is my first attempt at a portrait. My sister had sent me a photo of my niece in tiger paint, and her expression was so bright, I had to paint her for my sister, Marian's, next birthday! As she sat, unfinished, on my easel, I knew I had captured her spirit when I walked into the room one day and, reflexively, smiled back at her! To Kat!

This is a painting of a serene garden in which my Grandmother, Nunnie, would meditate at the stone altar in the green grove on a mountain in the Catskills New York State. It was in a hidden place, on the grounds of Wanderwalk, my Great Grandmother's house. You had to walk down a narrow dirt and stone path to reach it and it would just open up, unexpectedly, onto this lovely place. It was also known as "The Sanctum", and on the stone pillar was a sundial, which I am lucky enough to still have in my garden! When I was a child, I always felt the path was a portal, and I had reached an enchanted land whenever I came to it!

Sometimes, while I'm painting, I need absolute silence. Other times, music will actually guide my brush as I see into the three dimensions of the two dimensional canvas. It's a zone and it's an ecstatic place to be! The music varies with my mood, and then, so does the painting. Today, it was Praetorius' "Dances from Terpsichore"!

As a musician who plays the traditional and early music of the British Isles and Italy, I am a vocalist and also play dulcimer, recorder, pennywhistle and harp. I have played in Medieval and Renaissance Festivals, including ten seasons at the New York Renaissance Faire; as well as Charity events and benefits. My previous bands were A Couple Of Note and The Broad Street Troubadours, with whom I've recorded two CDs.. I am now soloing as "Una Cantante" and have played at the Cape May Renaissance Festival and the Medieval Festival at Fort Tryon Park in New York.
I have enjoyed being at the top of the chart of KCEG Radio, and the honor of being Artist of the Week. My interview with Mike Leonard at KCEG was on April 9, 2016, and can be found in the website's archives. On November 29, 2015 I was a featured artist on the "Notes From New England" portion of "The Wimmin's Show" on KZUM radio, and was interviewed by Colette O'Connor. You can also hear my music on Folk Alley's Open Mic, and it's been played on Pirate Radio of Eastern Oregon.
